Description

 

Certificate course offering theoretical and practical training on massage of the hands, feet and face.  It is an entry requirement to the diploma course in therapeutic massage, providing guidance for the development of touch. No qualifications necessary.

This is an integral part (MODULE 1) and entry requirement to the diploma course in therapeutic massage.

 

Applications

  • Community projects: stress management awareness programmes, geriatric residencies, etc.
  • In situations where basic physical/psychological support is needed e.g. as an adjunct to mental health programme, in conditions contraindicated for full body massage, children development programmes, etc.
  • At work: As an in-house relaxation tool (applied by co-workers or external person), for prevention or palliative occupational health programme, as part of team-building programme
  • Skills may be applied to the public under supervision on a voluntary basis

 

 

Length

 

2 ½ hours once a week for 4 weeks [Total tuition / supervised practice: 10 hours]

 

Home study / unsupervised practice (minimum): 8 hours

 

TOTAL HOURS: 19 hours

 

Continuous assessment and 1 hour practical exam
